Panaji, May 28: In a major boost to regional air connectivity, Goa-based airline FLY91 has launched direct flights between Goa and Solapur in Maharashtra, marking a strategic step in bridging the gap between underserved tier-II and tier-III cities across India.
This newly introduced route is FLY91’s eighth destination, joining its growing network that includes Pune, Jalgaon, Sindhudurg, and more. With this move, the airline aims to provide improved access to Solapur, known both for its thriving textile industry and as a major hub in Maharashtra’s pilgrimage circuit.

Solapur is a key cultural and religious destination, drawing lakhs of pilgrims each year to holy sites such as the Vitthal-Rukmini Temple in Pandharpur, Tulja Bhavani Temple in Tuljapur, Swami Samarth Maharaj Temple in Akkalkot, Sri Narasimha Saraswati Swami Math in Gangapur, and the Bhimashankar Jyotirlinga. The introduction of the direct Goa–Solapur flight is expected to significantly ease travel for both devotees and tourists.
Speaking to Daijiworld, a senior FLY91 official said, “Solapur has long needed better air connectivity. This new flight strengthens links between Goa and Maharashtra, benefiting not just the religious travellers but also business and leisure commuters.”
The airline has acknowledged vital support from key authorities including the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of Maharashtra, Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Airport Authority of India, and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) for enabling this expansion.
Based at Manohar International Airport in Goa, FLY91 has been steadily growing its footprint across India’s heartland by connecting regions that were traditionally bypassed by major airlines.
The Goa–Solapur route is anticipated to stimulate local economies, increase employment opportunities, and boost tourism, especially religious tourism which is central to Solapur’s identity. The airline’s commitment aligns with the national goal of ensuring air travel reaches the common citizen in smaller towns and cities.
