Goa police file six FIRs against landlords for skipping mandatory C-Form registrations

Panaji, Jun 15: Goa Police announced on Saturday that six landlords—including one from Jaipur—have been booked for leasing properties to foreign tenants without filing the required C-Forms. According to data shared by PRO Rahul Gupta (IPS), FIRs were registered between January and May at Anjuna (two cases), Mandrem, Mapusa, Verna, and Colva police stations.

Gupta explained that these landlords failed to submit C-Forms to the authorities within 24 hours of their foreign tenants’ arrival, violating provisions of the Foreigners Act, 1946. Legal proceedings have begun, and investigations are ongoing. The department has been carrying out regular inspections and operations statewide to uncover such breaches and uphold internal security.

During these drives, officials also checked foreign nationals residing in rented accommodations and guest houses for compliance with mandatory registration norms. Gupta noted that 23 foreign nationals were found staying illegally in Goa during this period—21 in North District and two in South Goa—and action has been initiated against them under relevant laws.

The police have urged landlords, guest house operators, property managers, and hotel owners to submit C-Forms promptly, warning that failure to comply will result in strict penal measures. Members of the public are encouraged to report any suspected violations to their nearest police station or through official Goa Police channels.
