Mangaluru: Eco club hosts week-long environment drive at St Aloysius High School

Media Release

Mangaluru, Aug 3: The eco club of St Aloysius High School successfully conducted a week-long environment drive packed with engaging and educational activities to nurture environmental consciousness among students.

Under the able leadership of Fr Johnson Pinto SJ, headmaster, and eco club coordinator Edna Mascarenhas, the initiative witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across all grades.

The week commenced with an experiential learning visit to Alvana Biodiversity Park, offering students firsthand exposure to diverse flora and fauna. This was followed by the tree-planting programme 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam', through which students pledged to plant and nurture saplings in honour of their mothers.

A range of educational sessions were also conducted on biodiversity and aqua scaping, herbarium preparation, and synthetic seed development.

Adding a creative twist to the drive, the 'Wealth Out of Waste' competition encouraged students to craft innovative items using recyclable materials. Resource persons Arjun Mascarenhas, Dr Jyothi, Shilpa, and Glavin Rodrigues from St Aloysius College enriched the sessions with their expertise and guidance.

The environment drive not only broadened students’ knowledge but also instilled in them a deep sense of responsibility towards safeguarding nature. The school community applauded the eco club’s efforts in fostering young, environmentally conscious citizens dedicated to building a greener tomorrow.
