Moodbidri, Aug 12: In a commendable display of efficiency and investigative skill, Moodbidri police have successfully traced and recovered gold jewellery worth nearly Rs 10 lac within just two days of it being reported lost.

The incident took place on August 8, when Vijaya, wife of Dharmapala Ballala of Padumarnadu village, lost her valuables while returning from her mother’s funeral in Kuppe Padavu.

Around 2 pm, while in Moodbidri town, she inadvertently lost two gold bangles, a gold necklace — collectively weighing approximately 9 sovereigns (around 72 grams) — along with her purse.

A case was promptly registered the same day at Moodbidri police station.

Under the leadership of police inspector Sandesh P G, a dedicated team from the crime detection wing — including officers Mohammed Hussain, Mohammed Iqbal, Akhil Ahmad, Nagaraj Lamani, and Venkatesh — launched a swift investigation. Working tirelessly over two days, the team managed to trace the lost items and return them to the rightful owner.

The recovered jewellery is estimated to be worth around Rs 10 lac.

The police team's prompt response and successful recovery effort have earned widespread appreciation from the locals, with many praising their dedication and professionalism.
