Dubai, Sep 24: KE Dubai successfully kicked off it’s first-ever Founders Fiesta with Michael D’Souza on Saturday, September 20, at Barsha Heights (Tecom), Dubai, UAE.
The event was a celebration of grit and glory through the eyes of an entrepreneur who has navigated over 50 years of highs, lows, and legacy. A titan of business and one of the greatest philanthropists of the Mangalurean Catholic community, Michael D’Souza inspired the audience with his remarkable journey.
The hall was packed with attendees eager to hear his story — a journey that began at the age of 17 and continues today, marked by resilience, wisdom, and purpose. He shared invaluable insights on managing life and business across every stage.

Key takeaways from his talk included:
• How to face a crisis when you’ve lost 90% of what you built.
• Ways to rise stronger despite 30 major setbacks.
• The “Business Triangle” framework that can withstand any crisis.
• Building sustainable wealth with foresight.
• The importance of giving back through charity and philanthropy.
Michael D’Souza is a distinguished entrepreneur whose journey spans over fifty years—from founding Souza Metal Mart in Puttur to steering hospitality ventures like Dunes and Ivory Grand in Dubai. His impact extends far beyond business: a generous philanthropist, he has established substantial educational and social welfare funds, including a Rs 25 crore EDUCARE programme and a Rs 10 crore fund supporting marginalized communities. He also spearheaded the Civil Service Academy at St Aloysius College in Mangaluru, and continues to uplift religious, cultural, and self-employment initiatives in Mangaluru, Udupi, and Dubai.
The event kicked off with an engaging startup game led by the host. Dorothy Fernandes, president of KEL, warmly welcomed the attendees, followed by Ivan Fernandes, KE Global chairman, who had the honor of introducing the speaker. The session featured an interactive Q&A, where the speaker thoughtfully addressed several questions from the audience. He was later presented with a memento by the chairman in recognition of his inspiring contribution.
Avil Pinto delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all participants for their active involvement. The entire program was seamlessly hosted by Maureen D’Souza, an active KEL member, whose efforts were instrumental in ensuring the event’s success.
