Kasargod court sentences ganja smuggler to 10 years in jail

Kasargod, Sep 30: The Kasargod additional district sessions court has sentenced Noufal K K, a resident of Bhimanadi Kunnangai in Vellarikundu taluk, to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 1 lac for smuggling ganja in a car. In case of failure to pay the fine, he will have to undergo an additional three months of imprisonment, the judgment by Judge K Priya stated.

Meanwhile, the second and third accused in the case – Rony Varghese of Kuranjeri Marith Parambil and Sameer alias Mulagpodi Sameer – were acquitted.

The case dates back to February 3, 2019, when Chittarikal police seized 112 kg of ganja being transported in a car at Poyyot under their station limits and arrested the accused.
