Beltangady: Boy killed, five injured as auto overturns

Beltangady, Nov 17: A 12-year-old boy died and five others were injured after an autorickshaw overturned when the driver reportedly lost control at Hokkila on the Kutrottu–TB Cross Road in Laila village late on November 16.

The deceased has been identified as Tanvith (12), son of Ganesh and a resident of Kundadka in Navoor village, Beltangady taluk.

Tanvith, who had sustained severe injuries in the accident involving an autorickshaw driven by Shashi of Navoor, is said to have died while being shifted to a private hospital. Five others travelling in the vehicle were also injured and admitted to a nearby hospital.

The group was on its way to Shree Kshetra Dharmasthala for the Laksha Deepotsava when the mishap occurred.

Beltangady traffic police are investigating the case.
