Two Nepali workers injured in violent machete attack at Arpora food joint

Daijiworld Media Network - Panaji

Panaji, Nov 24: Two Nepali youths employed at a Chinese fast-food outlet in Arpora were seriously injured after allegedly being attacked with a koita (billhook) early Sunday morning. Police say the assault stemmed from a trivial dispute that escalated over two days — first involving an argument about spitting gutkha, and later over the accused being refused momos.

The victims, Ganesh Kashera and Haribala Sunar, are currently receiving treatment for severe injuries at GMC, Bambolim.

Anjuna police have arrested the suspect, Bobby Mahendra Singh from Uttar Pradesh, for the attack, which occurred around 3:30 am.

Investigations indicate that the conflict began the previous day when Singh reportedly quarreled with the victims over gutkha spitting at the food stall. Tensions resurfaced the next night when Singh was allegedly denied momos, prompting the violent outburst.

Police say further investigation is underway.
