Byndoor: 350-kg Blue Marlin caught in gill nets off Uppunda

Byndoor, Nov 28: A massive Blue Marlin, weighing about 350 kg, was caught in the gill nets of fishermen near Uppunda in Byndoor taluk, according to reports.

The giant fish, locally known as Madalu and called Kattakamba in Kerala, was brought to the Malpe fishing harbour. It measured nearly 13 feet in length.

The catch was sold to fish traders from Kerala at Rs 70 per kg.

There is high demand for this species in the Malenadu region and in Kerala, said Suresh of the SKRCB party.
