Sullia: Stag found dead after gunshot at Aranthodu

Sullia, Nov 29: The carcass of a stag was found by the roadside at Panattila on the Peraje–Nidiyamale road on Thursday.

It is suspected that hunters shot the stag on the night of November 27, causing it to collapse near the roadside.

Officials from the Sampaje forest department recovered the dead animal and have questioned several individuals in connection with the incident.

Local residents had alerted the forest department after noticing the stag lying by the roadside.
