Udupi: Student injured in Padubidri tempo collision dies

Udupi, Nov 30: A 22-year-old student who had suffered serious injuries after being hit by a tempo in Padubidri has died while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Mangaluru.

The deceased has been identified as Preksha, a resident of Nadsalu Billitota in Padubidri. The accident occurred when she was crossing the service road towards Mangaluru and was hit by a goods tempo coming from the Udupi side. She fell onto the road and sustained a severe head injury. Locals rushed her to a nearby hospital for first aid, after which she was shifted to a Mangaluru hospital. A case has been registered at the Padubidri station.

Preksha was a student of Karavali College, Vamanjoor. She was returning home after finishing her examination. Belonging to a very poor family, she had earlier lost her father. She is survived by her mother and brother.

    According to reports an average of 500 people are killed on our roads every single day. Besides, there are many thousands that are fatally injured and crores in loses to property each and every day. There a many reasons why the numbers are so high, and unless we the people get together will our elected representatives and address all these issue and everyone using the roads use it with full responsibility and caution, the death toll will only increase and not come down.

Very heart wrenching incident. Bad incidents are happening in the family in sequence . Immense stress and agony on remaining members of the family. RIP God have mercy on this family members.
