Mangaluru: Accident at Bikarnakatte bus stop causes heavy traffic jam

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru

Mangaluru, Dec 6: A bus rammed into a trailer from behind near the Bikarnakatte bus stop on Saturday, leading to a massive traffic block in the area. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident.

The collision caused long queues of vehicles on the busy stretch, disrupting traffic flow for several minutes. Commuters who witnessed the mishap blamed inadequate road signalling and the unscientific entry and exit points connecting nearby roads to the highway for the accident.

Authorities are working to ease traffic congestion and restore smooth movement on the route.

We need to have the Private buses permit cancelled. They are very rash and simply honking with the vaccum horns. I had a worst experience yesterday on Mangalore - Udupi High, one bus is trying to overtake another and creating rukus on the highway. The administration is not bothered. It will be linked Indigo Airlines current situation

From pictures it seems like bus driver at fault as he hasn't kept safe distance. Keeping everything aside ,we should follow the basic road rule of keeping a safe distance from the vehicle ahead of us.

the traffic block in Mangalore’s Bikarnakatte area is on another level—just to reach Nanthoor Circle it takes almost an hour from Bikarnakatte. We don’t even know whom to complain to about this issue. The main problem is the congestion at Nanthoor Circle, and a flyover could really help resolve it.

"Commuters who witnessed the mishap blamed inadequate road signalling and the unscientific entry and exit points connecting nearby roads to the highway for the accident" Blaming road authorities is easy. Most of our drivers do not know driving rules. They do not know what the road white & yellow markings are for. UAE vehicles drive at a speed of 140 Kmph., drivers know & follow traffic rules. Using of horn is banned, we cannot think of it here.
