Mangaluru: Six Indigo flights cancelled at airport; passengers face inconvenience

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru

Mangaluru, Dec 7: Flight disruptions continued for Indigo across the country on Saturday, Decmbet 6, affecting operations at the Mangaluru International Airport as well.

A total of six flights were cancelled — three departures from Mangaluru and three arrivals. Several other Indigo flights were delayed both while departing and arriving, causing considerable inconvenience to passengers.

With widespread disruptions affecting Indigo services over the last four days, anxious passengers were seen repeatedly enquiring about the status of their booked tickets. Many reached the airport much earlier than usual, uncertain about whether their flights would operate.

Airport staff were heard advising passengers that flight status could only be confirmed on the day of travel and that they were monitoring the situation closely.

The irregularities also left passengers of other airlines confused, with many approaching airline counters frequently for clarification.

One woman passenger, who had come to Mangaluru for a wedding, said she had reached the airport around 5.30 pm for her 9.25 pm flight to Mumbai. “I was told the flight will now leave at 11 pm. I came early to check if any alternative arrangements are possible, but other airlines are very expensive. I’m also checking if I can wait in the lounge. I’ll try whatever is possible,” she said.

Two flights cancelled on Sunday

Airport authorities said that two Indigo flights scheduled for Sunday, December 7 — Mangaluru–Bengaluru (6E256) and Mumbai–Mangaluru–Mumbai (6E148/5150) — have been cancelled.
