Kaup: Car rams into bus stop; driver critically injured

Kaup, Dec 7: A car crashed into a bus stop, leaving the driver seriously injured, in an incident reported on Sunday, December 7 morning on National Highway 66, in front of Vidyaniketan School, Kaup.

The injured driver has been identified as Ismail from Koppalangady, who was at the wheel of the car.

The vehicle, which was heading from Kaup towards Uchila, is said to have gone out of the driver's control and rammed into the roadside bus stop.

Severely injured Ismail was shifted to a private hospital in Udupi by SDPI ambulance personnel Jalaluddin Uchila and Hameed.

Kaup police visited the spot and are conducting an investigation.

    Hope he is not in danger.We cant blame here roads.I am sure the way driver drew must be main cause of his accident.When one drives with care he sees how and where are curves and here one sees the road is not bad.He must have not the belt on .So he was fast and dashed on this curve?Wish him fast recovery .

    The very fact to have a notoriously sharp bend on highway is big no no. This is obviously an unscientific and unplanned highway road construction. Installing speeding cameras, warning signs and flashing signals may alert some drivers to drive cautiously but reconstructing this road design is much more needed. Centre should spend money adequately than cutting corners and building below standard roads.
