Udupi, Dec 12: The skeletal remains of an unidentified man were found in the bushes along the Ambalpady stretch of the National Highway.

Social worker Vishu Shetty, on receiving information, along with Ambalpady police personnel and with the assistance of Ramdas Palan of Udyavara, shifted the remains to the district hospital mortuary.

Preliminary observations suggest that the man may have died some time ago. The incident came to light on December 12. Following the discovery, Vishu Shetty filed a complaint at the Udupi Town Police Station.

Authorities have appealed to the public to contact the Town Police Station if anyone recognises the deceased based on the clothing — a pair of pants and a shirt — found at the spot.

The exact cause of death will be determined after a detailed police investigation and medical examination.
