Udupi: Humanity on display as bus staff help injured pedestrians

Udupi, Dec 20: An incident highlighting humanity by on-duty private bus staff occurred on Thursday night near the Garadi in Yermal. The mishap took place while the flower chariot of Yermal Sri Janardana Temple was being pulled as part of the Thenka Savari and Katte Pooja rituals.

During the procession, a car coming from behind hit two pedestrians near the Yermal Garadi. The accident occurred due to the negligent driving of the car driver.

At the same time, a Durgamba bus heading towards Udupi was passing through the area. The bus driver Ashraf Hejmadi, conductor Akash Kodikere, and Ashok Yermal immediately stepped in and took the injured persons in the bus up to Kapu Dandatheertha School.

Subsequently, an SDPI ambulance from Moolur rushed to the spot. Ambulance staff Jalaluddin Jallu and Hameed Uchil assisted in shifting the injured to a private hospital in Udupi for further treatment.

The timely and humane action of the bus driver and conductor has earned widespread appreciation from the public. The injured persons are reported to be recovering.
