Udupi: Rare mouse deer spotted in Havanje

Udupi, Dec 21: A rare mouse deer (barka), a small species of deer usually found in forested areas, was spotted at Parari in Havanje village here.

The mouse deer reportedly crossed the path of a two-wheeler ridden by social worker Ganeshraj Saralebettu near the Ring Road at Parari in Keejanaje of Havanje village. He immediately informed forest guard Devaraj Paana about the sighting.

The animal later moved safely back into the nearby forest area.
