Mangaluru, Dec 30: Officials and staff, led by the district prison superintendent, conducted a surprise inspection at the city’s district prison late on Monday night and seized prohibited items.
During the inspection, two mobile phones, one SIM card and one wireless charger were found in the possession of inmates and were seized by the authorities. As the use of mobile phones is prohibited inside the prison, a case has been registered at the Mangaluru Barke police station.

District prison superintendent Sharan Basappa said that Karnataka prisons and correctional services director general of police Alok Kumar has been informed about the incident.
