Puttur, Jan 7: Triveni Pallathar, president of the Innomogru gram panchayat (GP) in Puttur taluk, has been selected as a special invitee to attend the Republic Day celebrations to be held in New Delhi on January 26.
A total of five gram panchayats from Karnataka have been chosen to participate in the prestigious event, and Innomogru is one among them. Notably, it is the only gram panchayat selected from the coastal and Malenadu regions, including Udupi and Dakshina Kannada districts.
The selection has been made under the Swachh Bharat Mission and Jal Jeevan Mission. Gram panchayats were shortlisted based on their achievements in ensuring complete sanitation and comprehensive drinking water supply.
