Kadaba, Jan 9: A case has been registered at the Kadaba police station after a man who attempted suicide is battling for life in hospital, while his wife and young son have been reported missing. The incident was reported from Neeraje in Ramakunja village.
Munir, a resident of Janata Colony in Koyla village, attempted suicide and is currently in a critical condition at a government hospital in Mangaluru. Meanwhile, his wife Neha (36) and their son Mohammad Nihal (3.5) have gone missing.

A complaint in this regard has been lodged by Munir’s sister Hajira. In her complaint, she stated that her brother Munir married Neha, a native of Moodigere, eight years ago. The couple has two children — Safiya (6) and Mohammad Nihal (3.5). Munir and Neha lived for about two years at his house in Koyla village and later shifted to a rented house.
About three months ago, Munir left his elder daughter Safiya at their father’s house and went to Bengaluru for work along with his wife Neha and son Mohammad Nihal. They later returned in November to celebrate Safiya’s birthday and went back to Bengaluru the same day. On December 25, Munir returned alone from Bengaluru and stayed at his father’s house in Koyla. When asked about his wife and son, he said they would arrive in a couple of days and had also spoken to them through a video call.
Subsequently, on December 30, Munir attempted suicide by hanging for reasons not known. However, he was saved due to the timely intervention of local residents. On January 3, he again attempted suicide near Ayesha School in Neeraje and his condition turned critical. He is currently undergoing treatment at Wenlock Hospital and is not in a condition to speak.
When attempts were made to inform Neha over the phone about the incident, her mobile phone was found switched off. Despite enquiring with relatives, no information could be gathered about the whereabouts of Neha and the child. As they could not be traced, a missing complaint was lodged later with the police.
