Udupi, Jan 12: A minor girl from Halebeedu was rescued in a helpless condition near the Bannanje Mahalingeshwara Temple here.

The girl was noticed by Prema Ramachandra of Adi Udupi, who had visited the Bannanje Mahalingeshwara Temple for darshan. Suspecting something amiss in the girl’s behaviour, she questioned her, during which the girl revealed that she had left home after feeling distressed.

Prema Ramachandra immediately informed social worker Nithyananda Olkadu. Acting promptly, Nithyananda alerted the city police, following which the girl was provided temporary shelter at the Balika Bala Mandira at Doddangudde. Harish Poojary of Udyavara also extended assistance during the rescue.

Meanwhile, a missing case regarding the girl had been registered at the Halebeedu police station.
