Mangaluru, Jan 16: The Mangaluru City Police have issued a traffic advisory in view of large-scale public events scheduled at Tannirbhavi Blue Flag Beach and Panambur Beach on January 17 and 18 as part of coastal festival celebrations.
At Tannirbhavi Blue Flag Beach, an international kite festival will be held on both days. As a large number of dignitaries and members of the public are expected to attend, traffic congestion is likely after 3 pm on the Kottara Chowki–Panambur national highway stretch and Tannirbhavi Road.

Parking of vehicles on both sides of the road from Kudremukh Junction to Tannirbhavi Beach will be strictly prohibited during the event hours. Members of the public are advised to use the ferry service from Sultan Battery or the free KSRTC bus service arranged from KIOCL to Tannirbhavi Beach for their convenience.
The designated parking locations for the Tannirbhavi event are Dosth Yuvaka Mandal Ground, Katte Ground parking area, parking space opposite Tannirbhavi Masjid, Raftaar parking area, Tannirbhavi Beach parking area, Delta Ground parking, Fiza Cricket Ground (parking area in front of Hotel Nithyadhara) and A J Shetty’s ground on the SEZ road.
Meanwhile, Panambur Beach will host a series of programmes including a music festival, Thaikadamb Bridge concert, Javed Ali Night, sand art and cultural events on January 17 and 18. Due to the expected heavy turnout, traffic congestion is anticipated after 3 pm on the Kuloor–Panambur Baikampady national highway stretch and Panambur Beach Road.
During the event hours, parking will not be permitted on either side of the road from Kudremukh Junction to Panambur Junction and from Dikki Cross to Panambur Beach. Designated parking facilities for the Panambur Beach events include the K K Gate truck yard parking area and Panambur Beach parking.
The police have appealed to the public to park vehicles only in designated areas, follow traffic signage installed along the routes and arrive early to avoid inconvenience. Citizens are also urged not to halt vehicles unnecessarily on roads, maintain discipline and strictly follow police instructions, as traffic disruptions are likely during the events.
The advisory has been issued by the police commissioner, Mangaluru City, in the interest of public safety and smooth traffic movement.
