Beltangady: Man electrocuted while switching on pump, dies on spot at Guripalla

Beltangady, Jan 26: A 48-year-old man lost his life after suffering an electric shock while switching on a water pump near his house at Guripalla in the taluk on January 26 morning.

The deceased has been identified as Shivaprasad Adappa, a resident of Kadyaru village near Guripalla.

According to family members, Shivaprasad was attending to his routine morning work when he was electrocuted and flung to the ground, sustaining serious injuries. He was rushed to a hospital in Ujire, where doctors declared him brought dead.

The body has been shifted to the Beltangady government hospital for post-mortem and other formalities. Police said further details will be known after completion of the investigation.

The incident has caused shock in the locality and has once again drawn attention to the dangers associated with domestic electrical equipment.
