Mangaluru, Jan 29: Movement of a leopard has been reported in the Doddupalkke, Kattalsar and Goshale areas under the Paduperar gram panchayat limits, triggering panic among local residents.
According to locals, leopards have been sighted roaming even during daytime hours, causing fear among people, who are hesitant to step out of their homes. Some residents have managed to capture photographs of the leopard on their mobile phones.

Following complaints lodged by locals, forest department officials have placed a cage in the area to trap the leopard. On Tuesday evening around 7 pm, several people spotted the leopard in the Doddupalkke–Goshale area. It is said that one leopard remained in the same vicinity for nearly three hours.
Forest officials have confirmed sightings of the leopard in the area. However, residents have demanded that merely placing a cage is not enough and have urged authorities to take immediate steps to capture the leopard at the earliest to ensure public safety.
