Mangaluru: Ullal police trace absconding accused after 19 years, produce him before court

Mangaluru, Feb 4: Ullal police have traced and arrested an accused who had been absconding for 19 years in connection with a criminal case registered at the Ullal police station in 2007.

The accused has been identified as Anwar alias Anwar Hussain, 42, son of Hasanabba, a resident of Naseema Manzil, Kaiko Road, Subhash Nagar, Ullal.

The case pertains to Ullal police station crime No. 285/2007 registered under Sections 341, 384, 504 and 506 read with Section 34 of the Indian Penal Code. The matter was later taken up as CC No. 2904/2014 by the 3rd JMFC court, Mangaluru.

As the accused had remained absconding for several years, the 3rd JMFC court, Mangaluru, had issued a long-pending case (LPC) warrant against him. Acting on the warrant, Ullal police traced the accused and arrested him.

He was subsequently produced before the 3rd JMFC court, Mangaluru, police sources said.
