Kasargod, Feb 15: In a shocking development linked to the recent suicide of popular social media influencer Chinnupappu, her close friend was found dead by hanging in his house room on Saturday afternoon, even as police intensified their investigation into the case.

The deceased has been identified as Sandesh Y (29), a resident of Kudlu Mannippady. The incident reportedly occurred around 2.30 pm. His body has been shifted to the mortuary of Kasaragod General Hospital for further procedures.

It may be recalled that on February 9, Reshma (24), popularly known as Chinnupappu, a native of Alanthadka in Adur, was found dead in a rented house at Azad Nagar in Kudlu. She had allegedly died by suicide. With over two lakh followers on Instagram, Chinnupappu had gained wide popularity for her videos in the regional Malayalam dialect of Kasaragod.

Though she was previously married and had a child before separating, the exact reason behind her suicide had not been established. As part of the investigation, police had earlier questioned her friend Sandesh in connection with the case. However, no conclusive evidence had emerged regarding the circumstances leading to her death.

With Sandesh now found dead under tragic circumstances, police are expected to probe further to ascertain whether the two incidents are linked.
