Bantwal: Man apprehended for attempting to sell ganja; 180 grams seized

Bantwal, Feb 21: Based on information that a person was illegally in possession of a prohibited narcotic substance with the intention of selling it and earning profit at a deserted roadside place at Pakkalpade in Kodmanu village of Bantwal taluk on February 19, PSI (Law & Order) Manjunath T of Bantwal Rural police station, along with his staff, went to the spot and secured the said person and questioned him.

During inquiry, he revealed his identity as Prashanth alias Prasad (30), a resident of Meramajalu, Bantwal, and stated that he had stored ganja and had come to sell it to customers. During the search, 180 grams of ganja was found in his possession. He also stated that the said ganja had been given to him by Abdul Razak of Pallamajalu, Bantwal, with instructions to sell it to customers.

For further legal action, the accused, along with the said narcotic substance and the two-wheeler in his possession, has been taken into custody. A case has been registered at Bantwal Rural police station in Crime No. 19/2026 under Sections 8(C) r/w 20(b)(ii)(A) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, and investigation is being carried out.
