Widespread damage as heavy wind and rain lash Sullia

Sullia, Feb 26: Heavy winds accompanied by rain lashed various parts of Sullia taluk, including Sullia town, on Wednesday evening, causing damage at several places.

Heavy wind and rain were reported in Sulya town, Sampaje, Kallugundi, Aranthodu, Bellare, Mandekolu, Ajjavara, Elimale, Doddathota, Sonangeri, Bellare and Peruvaje areas.

A coconut tree fell on the house of Munir, a resident of Gurumpu in Sulya, causing damage. In Sampaje’s Peltadka, coconut trees fell on the houses of Chandravathi and Raj, a resident of Goonadka, resulting in damage. The family members escaped safely.

In Elimale, a coconut tree snapped and fell on the building of Elimale Noorul Huda Madrasa, causing damage.
