Mumbai, Feb 27: The Mumbai Police have announced traffic restrictions and diversion of heavy vehicles in view of the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur.
An official notification issued by the Mumbai Traffic Police stated that several dignitaries and a large number of devotees are expected to attend programmes within the Navi Mumbai Police Commissionerate limits. To prevent congestion and ensure smooth vehicular movement, heavy vehicles heading towards Navi Mumbai will be restricted during specified hours.

The city is preparing to host a two-day ‘Hind Di Chadar’ event from February 28 to March 1, 2026 at Corporate Park in Sector 29, Kharghar. The event forms part of Guru Tegh Bahadur’s 350th Shaheedi Samaroh commemorations and is expected to witness a turnout of 15 to 20 lakh devotees.
Heavy vehicle movement and parking will be restricted on the Ghatkopar-Mankhurd Link Road from Chheda Nagar Junction to Mankhurd T-Junction towards Vashi Toll Naka, and on the Sion-Panvel Highway from Mankhurd T-Junction to Mankhurd Jakat Naka towards Vashi Toll Naka.
All heavy vehicles travelling towards Navi Mumbai will be diverted via the Eastern Express Highway and routed towards Thane. The notification will not apply to vehicles carrying essential goods, police and fire brigade vehicles, ambulances, government vehicles, other essential service vehicles and those holding official passes for the event.
The order will remain in force on February 28 and March 1, 2026, from 5.00 am to 11.00 pm. Police have urged motorists to follow traffic instructions and cooperate with authorities.
A large main pavilion with a capacity of 80,000 to one lakh people at a time has been constructed at the venue. More than 150 special NMMT bus services will be operated and 38 parking zones identified. Three helipads have been arranged for VVIP movement.
Accommodation for around 25,000 devotees has been arranged along with over 1,000 temporary toilets. More than 500 sanitation workers will be deployed at the venue.
Authorities have also strengthened healthcare and emergency arrangements. Over 300 doctors and paramedical staff will be deployed, supported by more than 15 temporary medical centres and a dedicated temporary ICU. Around 350 hospital beds, including 75 ICU beds, have been reserved in nearby hospitals.
Security has been tightened with coordinated deployment of multiple agencies, while over 10,000 volunteers will assist in crowd management and guide devotees during the event.
