Middle East conflict: Eight tourists from Mangaluru stranded in Dubai, one in Saudi Arabia

Mangaluru, Mar 4: The Dakshina Kannada district administration has confirmed that eight tourists from the region are currently stranded in Dubai and one Umrah pilgrim is stuck in Saudi Arabia due to the suspension of flight operations following the Middle East conflict.

According to the district administration, the individuals stranded in Dubai include Shrinath P Shetty, Sadhika Shetty and her daughter Shriya from Mangaluru, as well as Kasturi Sadashiva Pai, Kasturi Sandhya Pai, and Kasturi Subramanya Pai from Surathkal. Additionally, K Pratibha Nayak and Shashank Shashidara Nayak from Mangaluru are also unable to return.

The family of Kasturi Sadashiva Pai, along with Pratibha Nayak and Shashank Nayak, were originally scheduled to return home on March 5.

Furthermore, a 28-year-old Umrah pilgrim, Muhammad Ateeq Kurlottu Abdul, is reportedly stranded in Saudi Arabia. Sources within the district administration stated that all the individuals are safe and have requested assistance to facilitate their return to their hometown.

The district authorities are in constant touch with the state emergency operations centre to monitor the situation and ensure the safe repatriation of the stranded citizens.
