Byndoor, Mar 6: In a daring daytime burglary, unidentified thieves broke open the lock of a house and fled with gold and cash worth lacs of rupees at Paduvari in Byndoor.
The incident occurred at the residence of the Patwal House family, from where approximately 20 sovereigns of gold and Rs 2 lac in cash were stolen. No one was present in the house at the time of the incident.
It is suspected that the thieves had gathered clear information beforehand and were lying in wait. The house that was targeted is located in a populated residential area, with several houses around it. The Paduvari and Someshwara roads pass nearby.

As the house is of tiled construction, it is believed that it was easy for the burglars to break the lock and enter. Parameshwara Patwal’s son, daughter-in-law and their two children reside in the house. Suspicion has arisen that those who had prior information about the house may have carried out the crime.
A sniffer dog squad tracked up to the road beside the house before returning. A fingerprint team and police officials from Byndoor police station visited the spot and conducted an inspection.
Responding to the incident, police officials stated that a team is conducting an investigation under the guidance of the SP to trace the burglars.
Earlier in the week on Tuesday, a gang of thieves broke into a jewellery shop on Bankeshwara Road in Byndoor and stole silver ornaments. The increasing number of theft incidents in the area has caused concern among local residents.
