Mangaluru, Mar 8: A new super speciality eye hospital, Manjunatha Eye Care Super Speciality Eye Centre, was inaugurated on Sunday, March 8 at Iddya, opposite Govinda Dasa College. The hospital aims to provide advanced and affordable eye care services to the people of Surathkal and surrounding regions.
The inaugural ceremony was presided over by MLA Dr Y Bharath Shetty, who appreciated the initiative and emphasised the importance of responsibility in the healthcare sector. He remarked that individuals from a healthcare background must first understand what should be avoided before learning what needs to be done. By focusing on the right direction, healthcare professionals can provide better service to society, he noted, adding that initiatives like this hospital play a vital role in strengthening medical services in the region.



























The hospital was formally inaugurated by Hareesh Acharya, who expressed confidence that the institution would cater effectively to the medical needs of the local population.
Speaking on the occasion, chief guest Dr Yusuf A Kumble said that while many businesses focus mainly on financial returns, the healthcare sector requires dedication and compassion. He praised the doctors behind the initiative, describing them as passionate professionals, and expressed confidence that they would expand such facilities in the future.
Dr Sunil Kumar, professor of general medicine, also addressed the gathering and expressed hope that the hospital would provide quality medical service. He stated that with committed doctors and modern facilities, the hospital has the potential to grow into a premier healthcare hub for the community.
The hospital has been established under the leadership of Dr Sachin Rajkumar, Dr Shakila Sachin, Dr Shruthi K, and Dr Anwatha Shetty.
The centre is equipped with modern ophthalmic diagnostic instruments and offers facilities such as suture-less phaco surgery, retina and laser treatment, squint correction, glaucoma clinic, contact lens services, plastic eye surgery, fluorescein angiography, OCT computerised eye check-up, Cirrus HD OCT, Humphrey Field Analyzer, corneal topography with dry eye analysis, and optical biometry.
The event was attended by doctors, well-wishers, and family members who extended their support to the team.
