Udupi: Man rescued while attempting to jump into water pit at Puttur

Udupi, Mar 15: A man was rescued in the early hours of Sunday, March 15, while attempting to jump into a water pit near Maya Gundi in Puttur, within the jurisdiction of the Udupi Town police station.

According to reports, a mentally distressed individual was observed trying to leap into the pit when local social worker Vishu Shetty noticed the situation. Shetty immediately alerted the emergency helpline 'Dial 112' (India Emergency Response Support System).

The man was promptly rescued with police assistance and subsequently admitted to the Udupi District Hospital for treatment and observation. The individual identified himself only as Ramachandra (38) and stated that he hails from Kumta. Authorities noted that he appeared to be in a frightened and confused mental state.

Vishu Shetty has appealed to the relatives or anyone with information regarding the individual to contact the Udupi Town police station or the district hospital.
