Dubai, Mar 17: Three foreign nationals who survived a drone strike on a residential building in Dubai have been arrested after sharing photographs of the explosion with family members to confirm their safety, according to a report.
The incident occurred in the Creek Harbour area, where a drone strike triggered a powerful explosion on Wednesday evening. The survivors, who were inside their apartment at the time, reportedly took photos of the damage and sent them privately to loved ones to reassure them they were unharmed. However, they were later detained after police checked their phones and found the images.

The Detained in Dubai group claimed the individuals were traumatised survivors who should have received support instead of being arrested. CEO Radha Stirling criticised the action, saying the three were “locked up” despite being victims of the incident and urged authorities to adopt a more compassionate approach.
She also cautioned foreigners that sharing such content, even privately, could lead to legal trouble in the UAE, especially during periods of heightened geopolitical tension.
The arrests come amid escalating regional tensions involving Iran, the US, and Israel, with recent drone-related incidents prompting heightened security measures in the UAE. Authorities had temporarily suspended flights at Dubai International Airport following a nearby drone-related fire, though no injuries were reported.
The development follows a recent case in which a 60-year-old British tourist was arrested under UAE cybercrime laws for filming and posting content related to Iranian attacks. Officials have not yet issued a detailed statement on the latest arrests, and further developments are awaited.
