Bantwal, Mar 22: In a tragic incident, an unmarried youth from Bantwal allegedly died by suicide by hanging himself at a home stay in Sullia. The deceased has been identified as Tilak Raj, a resident of Bondala Shantigudde.

It is reported that Tilak Raj used his shirt and trousers to hang himself in a room at the Payaswini home stay in Aranthodu, Sullia. Tilak Raj, who worked in interior design, was known to be a soft-spoken individual and was well-liked by those who knew him.

Final messages to friend

On the evening of March 20, Tilak Raj left home stating he had work in Sullia. He subsequently checked into the home stay in Aranthodu. After having tea at the attached restaurant, he retired to his room.

Sources revealed that throughout the night, he sent several voice messages to a close friend. The messages reportedly touched upon financial matters and various other personal issues. In his final communications, he stated that he was "going far away" and requested not to be called, even sharing his live location in the message.

Late discovery

Tragically, his friend saw the messages only on Sunday morning. By the time the information reached the authorities and the location was traced, the youth had already passed away. While the messages mentioned financial dealings, the specific reason that drove him to take the extreme step remains a mystery to his family and friends.

Sullia sub-inspector Santhosh and police personnel visited the spot for an inspection. A case has been registered at the Sullia police station, and further investigations are underway.
