Bantwal: Car crashes into divider electric pole, 7 students seriously injured

Bantwal, Apr 2: Seven students sustained serious injuries after a car, which went out of the driver’s control, crashed into an electric pole on a road divider at Maripalla near Farangipete on Wednesday night.

The incident occurred around 12:45 am on Wednesday night. It is learnt that the injured students are natives of Udupi.

The car hit the electric pole on the divider, dragged it along, and later overturned. There were around four girl students and three boy students in the car. Eyewitnesses stated that the overturned vehicle was lifted and all the injured were shifted to the hospital.

The car was travelling from Mangaluru towards B C Road on the national highway when the driver lost control near Maripalla. The vehicle climbed onto the road divider, hit the electric pole, and overturned.

Due to the impact, the electric pole broke, and the car was severely damaged. With the help of locals, the injured students were admitted to Thumbay Father Muller Hospital.

Police visited the spot and have initiated further action.

    Very bad.Driver had a licence?And wearing belts?Must be driving fast .Even should be tested if he was drunk?otherwise cant explain the crash.Hope they didnt have serious injuries and comeout from hospital fast .During this hot summer one should be careful to drink some water regularly.Otherwise one can specially driver may feel giddy and loose control over vehicle.

    Very tragic and unfortunate; seven adults in one car at 12:45 AM, possibly driving recklessly under the influence of mind altering substances!!
