Mangaluru: Hit-and-run at Kambalapadavu leaves bike rider critically injured

Mangaluru, Apr 2: A 23-year-old bike rider sustained critical injuries after a truck rammed into his two-wheeler at Kambalapadavu under the Konaje police station limits on the evening of Thursday, April 2.

The injured youth has been identified as Sushanth (23), son of Baby, a resident of Nadupadavu.

According to sources, the collision was so impactful that Sushanth was flung onto the road, sustaining severe head injuries. Passersby and locals immediately rushed him to a private hospital in Deralakatte, where he is currently undergoing treatment.

The incident is being treated as a case of hit-and-run, as the truck driver sped away from the spot without stopping after hitting the motorcycle. The driver's reckless escape drew heavy flak and outrage from the local public who gathered at the site.

The Konaje police, who arrived at the scene shortly after the mishap, launched a search operation and managed to trace and seize the truck involved in the accident. Further investigations are underway to apprehend the driver and establish the exact sequence of events.
