Tulu theatre artiste, Kapu Ranga Taranga founder Sujith Shetty Paduru passes away

Kaup, Apr 3: Noted Tulu theatre artiste and a founding member of the 'Kapu Ranga Taranga' theatre troupe, Sujith Shetty Paduru (54), passed away on Friday, April 3.

A well-known figure in the theatre world, Sujith Shetty had won the hearts of the audience with his successful portrayals of both comic and socially relevant roles. As a founding member and former convener of the Kapu Ranga Taranga troupe, led by K Leeladhara Shetty, he had played a pivotal role in the overall management and success of the team. Due to ill health, he had remained away from the stage for some time.

Condolences have poured in from various quarters following his demise. Kaup MLA Gurme Suresh Shetty, former minister Vinay Kumar Sorake, former MLA Lalaji R Mendon, JD(S) district president Yogish Shetty Balaji, and prominent leaders including K Vasudeva Shetty, Manohar S Shetty, and Nadikere Rathnakara Shetty have expressed their grief. Artistes from the Kaup Ranga Taranga team and the wider Tulu theatre fraternity have also mourned his passing.

The deceased is survived by his wife, former Kaup taluk panchayat president Shashiprabha Shetty, and a daughter.
