Australian Consul General Hilary McGeachy meets MP Brijesh Chowta in Mangaluru

Mangaluru, Apr 21: Australian Consul General Hilary McGeachy met Dakshina Kannada MP Capt Brijesh Chowta in Mangaluru and held discussions on various aspects that could contribute to the development of the district, including adventure water sports and tourism.

During the interaction held on Monday following the Consul General’s visit to Mangaluru, both sides discussed the potential to promote adventure water sports and tourism, noting that Australia and Dakshina Kannada both have extensive coastlines. Deliberations also focused on how Australia’s technical expertise and decades of experience in this sector could be effectively utilised for the development of the coastal region.

Discussions were also held on establishing partnerships with Australian universities to develop sports curricula, aimed at creating more opportunities for youth in the field of sports.

Speaking after the meeting, MP Chowta said that such initiatives would not only strengthen relations between the two countries but also open new avenues for youth by providing global-level skills and recognition. He added that it would contribute significantly to economic progress as well as the vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat’.
