HPV vaccine cuts cancer risk in men by nearly 50%, study finds

New Delhi, Apr 25: A new study has found that the HPV vaccine significantly reduces the risk of cancer in men, lowering the chances by nearly half.

Researchers said the vaccine, initially introduced to prevent cervical cancer in women, also provides strong protection against HPV-related cancers in men.

These include cancers of the throat and genital areas, which are increasingly being linked to the Human Papillomavirus.

Experts noted that the findings reinforce the importance of vaccinating both boys and girls, as broader immunisation can help reduce the overall burden of HPV-related cancers.

They added that expanding awareness and access to the vaccine could play a crucial role in cancer prevention globally.
