Mangaluru, May 8: Yenepoya (Deemed to be University) has entered into a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the International Federation of Facial Plastic Surgical Societies and Trustwell Hospitals to strengthen academic and research collaborations in the field of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
The MoU was formally signed on May 5, by Dr Aswini Dutt, registrar, Yenepoya Deemed to be University; Dr Andres Gantous, vice president, International Federation of Facial Plastic Surgical Societies; Dr Ullas Raghavan, head of the facial plastic and reconstructive surgery department at Doncaster and Bassetlaw NHS Trust Hospital, UK; and Dr Vishwas K Vijayadev, head, facial plastic and reconstructive surgery unit, Trustwell Hospitals, Bengaluru. Dr Gangadhara Somayaji, vice chancellor, Yenepoya (Deemed to be University); Dr Prakash Saldanha, principal; Dr Abhay Nirgude, vice principal; Dr Saimanohar, professor and head of the department of ENT and Dr Vijayalakshmi Subramaniam, professor in ENT were present at the signing ceremony. This collaboration aims to advance academic excellence, clinical training, and collaborative research in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery. The first major initiative under this MoU will be the launch of a fellowship programme in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery under the auspices of Yenepoya (Deemed to be University).
























This fellowship programme will offer advanced training under some of the world’s leading facial plastic and reconstructive surgeons, providing fellows with exceptional international exposure and hands-on expertise. Importantly, candidates trained under this programme will become directly eligible to appear for fellowships and board examinations conducted by the European Academy of facial plastic surgery and the American academy of facial plastic and reconstructive surgery.
With this initiative, Yenepoya (Deemed to be University) becomes the first private university in India to introduce such a unique and globally aligned fellowship programme in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery.
This adds to another pioneering academic initiative by the university- the fellowship in vestibular medicine, which has already commenced during the current academic year, further reinforcing Yenepoya’s commitment to medical education.
This MoU marks a significant step in positioning Yenepoya University as a leader in advanced surgical education and global academic collaboration.
