Panaji, Jun 5: Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Friday called upon citizens to renew their commitment towards environmental protection and sustainable living on the occasion of World Environment Day.

In a message shared on social media, Sawant stressed the importance of preserving natural resources for future generations and urged people to contribute towards building a greener planet.

“Let us reaffirm our collective responsibility to protect and preserve our environment for future generations,” the Chief Minister said.

He noted that even small efforts towards sustainability, conservation and responsible living can make a significant difference in ensuring a healthier and cleaner environment.

World Environment Day is observed globally every year on June 5 to raise awareness about environmental issues and encourage action for the protection of nature and ecosystems.

Established by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) in 1973, the day has grown into one of the world's largest platforms for environmental outreach, bringing together governments, organisations and millions of people in support of environmental conservation.
