Kuwait City, Jun 18: The foreign ministers of Kuwait and Iran have held their first known telephone conversation since the outbreak of the recent conflict, discussing the newly announced agreement between the United States and Iran.
According to statements issued by both countries, Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi reviewed the implications of the agreement and regional developments.
In a statement released by Kuwaiti authorities, Sheikh Jarrah expressed hope that the agreement would help strengthen regional stability and security.

He said Kuwait looked forward to contributing to efforts aimed at enhancing stability across the region, ensuring the security and freedom of navigation through the strategically important Strait of Hormuz, and addressing outstanding issues through sustainable and peaceful solutions.
Meanwhile, Araghchi stressed the importance of continued engagement among Gulf nations. According to Iran’s foreign ministry, he said sustained dialogue within the Gulf region was necessary to enhance mutual cooperation, build confidence and resolve existing ambiguities through diplomatic channels.
The conversation comes amid efforts by regional countries to assess the impact of the recent US-Iran understanding and its potential implications for security, trade and maritime activity in the Gulf.
The Strait of Hormuz remains a critical global energy corridor, handling a significant share of the world's oil exports, and its security has been a key concern throughout the conflict.
The call is being viewed as a positive diplomatic step as Gulf nations seek to support de-escalation efforts and encourage long-term regional stability following the US-Iran agreement.
