Beirut, Jun 30: The southern Lebanese town of Froun has emerged as a fresh test for the fragile ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon, with tensions rising over the future of Hezbollah’s presence in the area.
Israel, which failed to capture the town during recent fighting, is now pushing for the Lebanese army to remove Hezbollah forces from Froun as part of a ceasefire arrangement brokered in Washington.
However, many residents of the town have opposed the move, saying that such action would threaten Lebanon’s sovereignty and raise concerns over foreign influence on internal matters.

The situation in Froun reflects the wider challenges facing the ceasefire agreement, with both sides under pressure to implement commitments while preventing a return to conflict.
The town, located in southern Lebanon near the border region, remains a sensitive area due to its strategic importance and its association with Hezbollah’s activities.
