New Delhi, Mar 22: The jubiliation in B S Yeddyurappa camp may not last long, as senior BJP leader L K Advani has vehemently batted for chief minister Sadananda Gowda. "There will not be any change in Karnataka leadership, and D V Sadananda Gowda will continue as chief minister," Advani reportedly said.
Chief minister Sadananda Gowda who flew to New Delhi last night along with state BJP president K Eshwarappa, ministers Karjol, Ramdas, Suresh Kumar and others, met senior BJP leaders and discussed the political situation in the state.
"I presented a copy of Karnataka Budget 2012-13 to Advaniji. He was extremely happy and asked us to continue the pro-people work. He has reassured that there will be no change in the state leadership," Gowda told reporters in New Delhi this morning.
"We also discussed Udupi-Chikmaglur poll debacle, and brought the real issues to the notice of leaders, issues such as 'resort' politics by a group of MLAs, filing of rebel candidate for Rajya Sabha poll etc." He indirecly said that those factors could be some of the key factors for BJP's loss in Udupi bypoll.
He also stated that he was not aware of Yeddyurappa's New Delhi visit as he did not meet him anywhere during his visits to senior leaders.
Yeddyurappa, who has camped in New Delhi since last night along with his followers, is facing the uphill task of regaining the CM chair. His camp was jubilant last evening after reports came in that he might be reinstated following the Udupi bypoll defeat and pressure from RSS.
Though Advani has given the green signal to DVS, it is not the final decision of BJP high command. BJP's central leadership is expected to make its stand on Yeddyurappa final in a day or two, or soon after the end of the budget session this month, reports suggest.
