Dubai, Mar 25 : No doubt, cinema stars have huge fan following wherever they go, whether in India or abroad. Often, they demand and deserve the starry treatment they get, for after all, they are the ones who move us to tears or laughter, show us the brighter side of life on the silver screen and make us forget all pains for at least three hours in the theatre.
But when lesser known actors make a fuss and pretend to be popular stars, then it's time to remind them about their status.
Quite a few Sandawood stars descended on Dubai to perform during Gurukiran Nite on Friday March 23 at the Al Nasr Leisureland Ice Rink.
Sandwaood fans who gathered in a huge crowd of over 1300 had big expectations from Gurukiran and the other performers like Loose Mada Yogesh, actress Ragini, Parul, Komal, and others.
What was shocking was the attitude of Ragini and Yogi who had come with total lack of commitment and preparation. It was amusing to see the host begging these artistes to come on stage and perform. Both artistes, despite the publicity given in advance, failed to impress the audience. A section of the audience questioned the organisers whether this duo was here to perform or just for an outing.
Both these artistes are lesser known in this part of the world, and on Friday they had a great opportunity to prove their talent and worth, and make their presence felt at the show. What was worse, leader of the troupe Gurukiran too had to beg Ragini to come on the stage and perform !
The top-class audience at the venue had great patience and showed no dissent, despite the 'drama' of these artistes on the stage.
And what was more shocking, Ragini's arrogance was exposed before a section of the media, when she arrived from Bangalore on Thursday night. Due to heavy rush at the airport it took a long time to get out of the airport after procedures like eye scanning and immigration. When she did come out, she even refused to shake hands with the people who were present to welcome her, and expressed her disappointment over the delay inside the airport saying she had not been treated well! Perhaps she forgot that every passenger must undergo such formalities at the arrival point.
That's not all. She was not satisfied with the top-class accomodation provided by the organizers either, and insisted on being give five-star stay. The organsizers had to bend to her plea and the next day made arrangements to provide her with her own choice of accomodation.
It was also heard that she demanded that security guards be provided to her on entering the venue and later at the time of leaving !
Those who learnt of her arrogance were heard commenting, "How should top bollywood stars behave if such heroines act like this?"
One can only hope that these artistes learn to behave and be humble, for only that can win the hearts of their fans.
