Mangalore, Jun 4: The post graduate courses at Father Muller Medical College were inaugurated at the FMMC Decennial Memorial Hall here on Monday June 4.

Pratap Reddy, IGP (Western Range) was the chief guest and inaugurated the courses for the academic year of 2012-13.

Addressing the gathering he advised the medicos to imbibe service-oriented mentality by being available for their patients round the clock. "Public outcry is most when police and medical professions fail," he said.

He said good response by the police staff at the police station and ward boy at the hospital puts one in comfortable situation. He said the healthcare needs of the lesser privileged could be addressed with the help of the police department. "As medical needs are becoming expensive, there is need to decrease the commercial motive rooted in the profession," he said.

Fr Patrick Rodrigues, director, FMCI delivering his presidential address said that medicos should think of others. "Ideal behavior with confidence, empathy, honest, humane nature, respect and perfection makes one good at one's profession," he said.

Dr J P Alva, dean, FMMC, welcomed the gathering. Fr Denis D’Sa, administrator, FMMC was present. As many as 86 new post graduate students were inducted.
