Pune, Jun 24 (IANS): Two staffers of the National Defence Academy (NDA) and four civilians have been arrested in connection with a major recruitment scam unearthed by the CBI, an official said Sunday.
The Central Bureau of Investigation raided last week 17 locations in Mumbai, Sonepat and Gurgaon as well as the NDA at Kadakvasla near Pune. A total of Rs.17.60 million in cash was seized.
The two staffers nabbed include Kulbir Singh and Ramesh Gaikwad besides a canteen manager, Balkishen Kanojia, the official told IANS.
They are accused of indulging in a recruitment scam involving lower level appointments like gardeners, cooks, clerks, cadet orderlies and lab and library attendants in May-June.
They have been charged with taking money ranging from Rs.300,000-400,000 from those who applies for these jobs.
The officers then affixed their signatures on blank exam papers and then filled them up with correct answers to make them eligible for appointments.
