Al Ain: NMC Healthcare Launches ‘Mama Care’ Programme for Prospective Parents

Al Ain, Jul 8: NMC Healthcare, the largest private sector healthcare provider in the UAE, launched its popular maternity care educational ‘Mama Care’ in NMC Specialty Hospital Al Ain. The program was officially inaugurated by Dr B R Shetty, MD and CEO, NMC Healthcare.

Mama Care program will help pregnant mothers prepare for the new additions to their families in a way that makes the experience enjoyable for expecting parents. The programme is already running successfully at NMC Specialty Hospital, Abu Dhabi and Dubai, and is being introduced for the first time in Al Ain region.

New mothers in their first to third trimesters can register for prenatal and postnatal advice from expert medical professionals including nurses, dieticians and exercise physiologists, providing support and confidence during the pregnancy, delivery and post-delivery.

The antenatal classes will cover an array of topics for mums- and dads-to-be, ensuring they are prepared for the birth of their child. Expectant parents will learn about the growth of the baby, changes experienced by the pregnant mother, appropriate diet and exercise, important roles and contributions of the husband during the pregnancy, the labour process, how to care for a new-born baby, and support after discharge from the hospital.

The guest of honour Dr B R Shetty, in his inaugural address said, “With the launch of Mama Care in Al Ain, it is NMC Healthcare’s endeavor to continue our mission in delivering world class healthcare to the community for many more decades to come.”

Dr C R Shetty, group medical director, NMC Healthcare emphasized the need and importance of having complete knowledge of various aspects relating to pregnancy for a smooth and hassle-free delivery process. Our aim is to make pregnancy and childbirth an enjoyable experience by taking the time to make sure each woman’s individual needs are met. Through this programme we aim to improve the quality of life of our patients by improving their lifestyle and environmental conditions which will reduce complications, improve the delivery outcome and reduce postnatal complications.”

The event was also attended by Binay Shetty, chief operating officer, NMC Healthcare and UmeshBhandari, president, NMC Healthcare.

More than 30 expectant and new mothers took part in the inaugural ceremony.
