London, Jul 17 (IANS): Director Peter Jackson is planning to divide "The Hobbit: There and Back Again" in two separate films.
''That's a discussion we're having. We have certainly been talking to the studio about some of the material we can't film, and we've been asking them so we can do a bit more filming next year. I don't know what would come of that, whether it'd be extended editions or whatnot. But those discussions are ongoing,'' Jackson said in the Warner Bros. press conference at Comic-Con.
Jackson thinks there is so much more material to explore, and hinted that the potential extra movie could be based on J.R.R. Tolkien's 125 pages of additional notes found at the end of third "Lord of the Rings" book "The Return Of The King".
''I'd like to shoot a bunch more material that we could not shoot. There's so much good stuff in the index that we have not been able to squeeze into these movies,'' he said.
The first film, "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey", is scheduled for release Dec 14.
